Implant Restorations
Implants are a third way to replace missing teeth. A referral to an oral surgeon or periodontist will be done for the placement of an implant fixture into the bone. After a period of healing, a crown or bridge can be fabricated over the implant(s). The implant restoration will regain the function and esthetics of a natural tooth.
The advantage of implant restorations over a conventional bridge is that the adjacent teeth do not have to be compromised. Multiple implants can also be used to help retain dentures and partials.
Implant supported dentures are the standard of care for lower (mandibular) dentures. The patient easily snaps the denture into two implants that prevent any movement.
