Resin and Amalgam Fillings
If a tooth gets a cavity or has a minor fracture, white resin or silver amalgam are used to restore the tooth. Both materials are acceptable and work well if placed correctly and used in the right situation.
Durable amalgam is used on back teeth and hold by placing undercuts in the tooth structure. Esthetic resin is used on front teeth and back teeth by bonding to the tooth structure. Resin fillings can be used as veneers on the front teeth to close spaces, change shape, and alter the color shade.
